Where can a drone fly in Atlanta?

Most of the metro, with FAA authorization inside the airport rings. Hartsfield-Jackson, the busiest airport in the world by passengers, sits under Class B airspace that reaches across the south side, and it is LAANC-enabled, so a pilot gets near-real-time authorization through an FAA-approved app where the facility map allows. DeKalb-Peachtree, Fulton County, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Cobb County and Gwinnett County add Class D rings of about four and a half miles each.

Dobbins in Marietta is a military field, so a pilot working near it checks whether LAANC covers the grid or files through FAA DroneZone, which takes longer; allow extra days there. Where any facility map sets a low ceiling, the pilot files 72 hours ahead. Game days bring a three mile temporary flight restriction around Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Truist Park from an hour before to an hour after the event. Your pilot requests every authorization, not you; the booking form tells you if an airport is likely close and asks for a window of three days or more.

Atlanta's other feature is its tree canopy. Many houses sit under mature hardwoods, so the pilot keeps line of sight from the driveway or street, climbs above the canopy for the overview shots and frames the lot lines from directly above. That is normal here and does not change the price.

When is the best time to book in Atlanta?

Any month, with two seasonal notes. Atlanta flies year-round; the limits are sustained wind over 20 mph, rain and visibility under three miles, and summer afternoons bring thunderstorms, so pilots prefer morning windows from June to September. Spring pollen in late March and April coats lenses and can haze the air on the heaviest days, so pilots wipe and reshoot. Listing season runs from late March to June, and the trees are in full leaf from April, which hides roofs in some photos.

The metro is the third largest housing market in the country by volume: 77,393 homes sold and 114,226 new listings in 2025 according to Redfin's metro tracker, with some of the fastest inventory growth in the US. About 3,440 Part 107 holders list a releasable address in the metro in the FAA's October 2026 airmen file; the true number is higher because many pilots withhold their address. Hail here is lighter than in Texas, so roof checks are more often tied to a sale or a repair quote than to a storm.

Atlanta questions

Will the trees block the shots?

Rarely the whole shot, often part of it. The pilot climbs above the canopy for the straight-down lot view and the neighborhood context shots, and flies the front elevation from the street side where the view is open. A roof under heavy canopy may need more angles than usual, which is already inside a Roof Check. If the pilot cannot see the aircraft from any legal launch point on the property, they tell you before flying and you pay nothing.

Does spring pollen matter?

On the heaviest days in late March and April, yes. Pollen settles on the lens between flights and the air can look hazy from altitude, so the pilot wipes the lens before each pass and may suggest a morning window or a day after rain. It is a quality note, not a safety one; FAA visibility minimums of three miles are rarely a problem from pollen alone.

Can a pilot fly near Hartsfield-Jackson?

Usually, with authorization. The Class B airspace around the airport is split into a grid with a ceiling for each cell, and LAANC approves flights under that ceiling in near-real time. Close to the runways the ceiling is zero and nothing flies. When you type an address on the booking form we tell you if the airport is likely near, and your pilot checks the exact cell before accepting. Give a window of three days or more so a further-coordination request has time if one is needed.
