Where can a drone fly in Orlando?

Most of the metro, with FAA authorization inside the airport rings and a hard stop over the theme parks. Orlando International sits under Class B airspace across the south and east side, and it is LAANC-enabled, so a pilot gets near-real-time authorization through an FAA-approved app where the facility map allows. Orlando Sanford to the north has a Class C ring of about five miles, and Orlando Executive and Kissimmee Gateway add Class D rings of about four and a half miles each.

A standing flight restriction covers Walt Disney World, three nautical miles around the parks up to 3,000 feet, and no drone flies inside it; properties in parts of Lake Buena Vista and Celebration fall under it, and the pilot will tell you before accepting. Football games at Camping World Stadium bring temporary flight restrictions of their own. Where a facility map sets a low ceiling, the pilot files 72 hours ahead. Your pilot requests every authorization, not you; the booking form tells you if an airport is likely close and asks for a window of three days or more.

Florida Statute 934.50 bars recording private property or the people on it with the intent to conduct surveillance without written consent, which is why the booking form asks you to confirm you own, lease or represent the property and agree to exterior photos. For a vacation rental, the owner or the property manager can book. Pilots keep the camera on your property, not the neighbors.

When is the best time to book in Orlando?

November to May is the dry season; summer is about mornings. Orlando flies year-round; the limits are sustained wind over 20 mph, rain and visibility under three miles. From June to September an afternoon thunderstorm is the norm and Central Florida sees more lightning than almost anywhere in the country, so pilots fly early in the day. Hurricane season runs June to November. Listing season runs from late March to June; vacation-rental owners and managers book at any time of year.

The metro recorded 37,706 homes sold and 52,787 new listings in 2025 according to Redfin's metro tracker, and Realtor.com named Orlando among its top growth markets for 2025. About 2,140 Part 107 holders list a releasable address in the metro in the FAA's October 2026 airmen file, and Orlando is among the top cities in the country by pilot mailing address; the true numbers are higher because many pilots withhold their address.

Orlando questions

Can a pilot fly near Disney or Universal?

Not inside the Disney restriction, and carefully elsewhere. The standing flight restriction around Walt Disney World covers three nautical miles from the parks up to 3,000 feet and has no exception for a real estate shoot, so a property inside it cannot be flown; the pilot checks the address and tells you before accepting. Universal has no standing restriction, but the Class B grid from Orlando International applies and the pilot needs LAANC authorization. Give a window of three days or more.

Can you photograph a vacation rental?

Yes. The owner or the property manager books and confirms on the form that they may allow the home to be photographed from the air. Tell your guests or your cleaning team before the flight; the pilot keeps the camera on the house, the pool and the street, and never on people or interiors. Choose the Listing Bundle if you want the 60 to 90 second clip for your rental page as well as the stills.

Will afternoon storms cancel my flight?

Often in summer, which is why pilots book mornings from June to September. If a storm builds during the window, your pilot calls it off, you pay nothing extra and you pick a new window within 14 days. Lightning within a few miles ends a flight on the spot. Outside the summer months, Orlando has long stretches of calm, clear days and cancellations are rare.
