Where can a drone fly in Phoenix?
Most of the Valley, with FAA authorization inside the airport rings, and there are many rings. Sky Harbor sits under Class B airspace that covers central Phoenix and Tempe, and it is LAANC-enabled, so a pilot gets near-real-time authorization through an FAA-approved app where the facility map allows. Eight towered airports add Class D rings of about four and a half miles: Scottsdale, Deer Valley, Falcon Field, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway, Chandler, Glendale, Luke Air Force Base and Goodyear.
Deer Valley is one of the busiest general aviation airports in the country, so north Phoenix addresses often fall inside its ring; that is routine for LAANC. Luke in the West Valley is a military field with fighter training, so a pilot working near Glendale, Litchfield Park or Surprise checks whether LAANC covers the grid or files through FAA DroneZone, which takes longer; allow extra days there. Where any facility map sets a low ceiling, the pilot files 72 hours ahead. Game days bring a three mile temporary flight restriction around State Farm Stadium and Chase Field from an hour before to an hour after the event.
Your pilot requests every authorization, not you. When you type an address on the booking form, we tell you if one of these airports is likely close and ask for a window of three days or more.
When is the best time to book in Phoenix?
October to May is the easy season, and the rest is about mornings. Phoenix has more than 300 flying days a year; the limits are sustained wind over 20 mph, rain and visibility under three miles. Monsoon season from July to September brings afternoon storms, dust and gusts, and summer afternoons well above 100 degrees overheat batteries and screens, so pilots fly early in the morning from June to September. Listing season peaks from late March to June.
The metro is the fifth largest housing market in the country by volume: 68,243 homes sold and 92,224 new listings in 2025 according to Redfin's metro tracker. Phoenix also has the lowest listing-media prices of the big metros, with a standard listing photo package averaging $208 in HomeJab's 2025 guide, so speed and a known pilot matter more than a discount here. About 2,780 Part 107 holders list a releasable address in the metro in the FAA's October 2026 airmen file; the true number is higher because many pilots withhold their address.
- Airports and airspace
- Class B at Sky Harbor, with LAANC. Class D at Scottsdale, Deer Valley, Falcon Field, Gateway, Chandler, Glendale, Luke Air Force Base and Goodyear. Allow extra days near Luke and 72 hours where a facility-map ceiling is low.
- Weather windows
- More than 300 flying days a year. Monsoon July to September brings afternoon storms and dust; summer flights are early morning because of heat. No flights in rain, sustained wind over 20 mph or under three miles of visibility.

Phoenix questions
Can a pilot fly in July?
Yes, early. Pilots fly from sunrise until mid-morning in summer, before the heat climbs past what drone batteries and phone screens handle well and before the monsoon storms build in the afternoon. Give a window of two or three days so the pilot can pick a calm, dust-free morning. If a storm or a dust wall arrives during the window, the pilot calls it off, you pay nothing extra and you pick a new window within 14 days.
Is my address inside Deer Valley or Scottsdale airspace?
Possibly, and that is fine. Both airports have Class D rings of about four and a half miles with LAANC, so the pilot gets authorization in near-real time where the facility map allows and files a further-coordination request 72 hours ahead where the ceiling is low. When you type the address on the booking form we tell you if an airport is likely near. Give a window of three days or more in that case; the price does not change.
Can you photograph a lot or acreage, not just a house?
Yes. Pick Lot or land as the property type and the pilot flies the straight-down view of the whole parcel, the corner shots and the neighborhood context from 300 to 400 feet. For a parcel larger than a typical lot, or for a survey-grade map, choose Something else on the booking form and describe it; a pilot quotes a price for the extra flying time.
